The Indian machine Tool industry has around 1000 units in the production of machine tools,accessories,subsystems and parts, out of which around 20 in the large scale sector contributes to 70 percent of the turnover and rest are in the SME Sector.
There is a huge gap in the production and consumption in the country itself if we compare the data of 2 consecutive fiscal year 2011-12 & 2012-13. Though the exports have risen by 19% and imports have gone down by 1%, there is still a huge scope to increase the exports further and bringing down the imports.
